THE ROLE OF ISLAMIC EDUCATION IN GLOBALIZATION ERA

إن الحمد لله نحمده و نستعينه و نستغره و نعوذ بالله من شرور أنفسنا و من سيئة أعمالنا. من يهده الله فلا مضل له و من يضلل فلا هادي له. أشهد أن لا إله الا الله و أشهد أنّ محمدا عبده و رسوله.لا نبي بعده أما بعد.
قال الله تعالى في القرآن الكريم : كنتم خير أمة أخرجت للناس تأمرون بالمعروف و تنهون عن المنكر و تؤمنون بالله.
First of all I would like to express my thanks to the Lord who has given me everything I need in my life. Secondly, sholawat and salam always bestowed on our Prophet Muhammad SAW who has brought us from the darkness to the lightness. He said in a hadist :
الإسلام يعلو و لا يعلى عليه
In this golden chance, I would speech about The Role of Islamic Education in Globalization Era.
Before I share to you about the title, I should explain what globalization is. Globalization may be defined as the process leading towards an increasingly strong interdependence between increasingly large parts of the world, resulting in the phenomenon that events and developments in one region influence most other regions. And also may be defined as “the compression of the world into a single space and the intensification of consciousness the world as a whole”. Globalization raises global culture which is encompassing the world at the international level.
Globalization era signed with mastery and ability using information current, and any technologies. This era also signed with excellence economic competition at the same time with revolution of information technology, communication technology, and industry technology. This competition is still dominated by three powers of world economics; there are Japan, united of Europe, and United States of America.
America is excellence in product technology. The technology produce new product with rate of sophisticated technology. Such as producing supersonic plane, robot etc. German and Japan are excellence in technology process, such as CD (compact disc), the first time made by Dutch after that perfected by Japan until produce better CD with high quality and chipper. Beside these countries, at the present China appears as new power of world economic with the highest of economic development in the world.
Furthermore, in the further development, progress of communication technology cause non distance and limit between one people to another people, one unity to another unity, one country to another country. The communications across country have been occurred quickly and easily. And also information development across world could be access easily trough information technology, such as internet.
Internet is global collection from thousand of web managed independently. Internet is very popular because it is the appropriate media to obtain latest information with any varieties quickly and easily. Besides that, internet become chip slang arena, place for seeking up to date information, especially in education sector. Internet encourages the development of science and technology occurred in various part of the world.
The condition above is happening quickly and firmly. In this globalization era, every state demanded to improve itself facing the competition. The nation which is able to improve itself with increasing human recourses, big possibility it will be able to compete in this competition.
This is the time for education -include Islamic education- have to show their selves, are they capable to educate and produce pupil with high quality or they are precisely defeated toward attack of any globalization dynamic developments. And are they capable to develop the right skill to mastery rapidity, complexity, and uncertainly. World rapidity changes demanding and requiring learns skill quickly until it able to analyze every situation logically and solve problem creatively.
In this information era, those who survive are those future oriented, and able to change science to be policy. Therefore, Islamic education world today are exposed a tough challenge. Whereas, Islam is very notice effort to create Qur’anic generations, who have ideas and behavior based Al-qur’an, character and quality personal. And also it creates the expected generation to show the power of faith and taqwa and creates the generations who have skill to mastery science and technology for grounding Islamic values perfectly.
After I explained above, so what must world of Islamic education do? To answer it, seems we need to look at the framework of Islamic education in the context of nationalism, so that we can prepare appropriate strategies to face globalization. In terms of quantity, the development of learners of Indonesia formal education starting from kindergarten level to university level experienced significant progress. In terms of quality, they are still lagging far behind than other countries, both developed countries, as well as ASEAN member countries even.
The institution of Islamic education demanded able to ensure the quality of its graduates according to the standards of global competence -at least able to prepare their students plunge to compete with foreign workers- so they can anticipate the full of educated unemployment. Here it must be admitted, the Islamic educational institutions were not ready to face the era of free market. There is still much that must be addressed, does the system or those who involved in the system.
The program of Islamic education should incorporate and strengthen the moral character of students. Islamic education has crucial function and contribution to develop character and moral values for the human activities and developing countries.
Human recourses are main factor of improving indicator our nation, besides natural recourses, science and technology recourses. Look at the western countries! The western countries’ success is supported by increasing of human recourses quality. It is relating with education as means of establishing human recourses. So, the problem of human recourses weakness is beginning from low rate of education, weak of management, and lack of technology mastery.
 All of these problems cause Indonesia lack of ability to compete with other country. Whereas, physiographic Indonesia include of country owns wealth. Unfortunately, it is not managed well because the quality of human recourses lacks supporting.
There are at least five implications of globalization on Islamic education there are economic integration, political fragmentation, technological advances, new cultural colonization, and inter institution communication. Economic integration makes education as a commercial commodity. As a result, motivation of Indonesian people toward education turns to the pragmatic perception. So that religious education is no longer considered attractive. Meanwhile, political fragmentation, making teaching and learning process more democratic, communicative, humane, tolerant, satisfaction, happiness, and enjoy. Therefore, the improving program of teacher competence in teaching skills and learning process is very important.
High-tech management demand education must be according to technological progress. And it requires a country and other countries to unite a program together to solve some problems of education. Implications of globalization raises new colonialism in the culture that demands an education program related to character and moral education. This challenge becomes the starting point of research and development at every institution of Islamic education. The goal is improving all components of Islamic education such as vision, mission, goal, aim, curriculum, teacher’s competence, teaching-learning process, management, facility, financial, environment, etc in order to able to answer those challenges. Besides that, the goal is making culture values based on Islamic values, Al-quran, as-sunnah, knowledge and Islamic traditional.
The preceding discussion warns us to beware of over simplifying the analysis of globalization. Firstly, we have seen that globalization is not an entirely novel phenomenon. On the other hand, the contemporary globalization processes has its own particularities, relating mainly to the rapidity of contemporary communication and transport. Secondly, we have understood that globalization is not just a process of one fixed centre progressively expanding its influence and pattern of life over the rest of the world. Therefore, a solid analysis of the globalization process requires of distinction to be made between action and reaction, as well as between “actors”, “re-actors”, and “victims”. It is not impossible that one region, society, or group may act as actor, re-actor, and/or victim at the same time, depending on the perspective.
